“ I believe that effective therapy involves assisting clients to identify and implement the tools they already possess. ”
Leah Richmond, MA, LMFT, CSW
I completed my undergraduate studies at Centre College with a degree in Psychology and Religion. I then completed my Master’s degree at the University of Chicago Divinity School with a specialization in Buddhist Psychology and mindfulness. I graduated from the University of Louisville with a Master's of Science in Social Work and a Master’s in Couples and Family Therapy.
I view my role as being a supportive coach who offers encouragement and guides the client over their emotional hurdles. Alongside this client-centered approach, I use a variety of evidence-based modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, internal family systems, expressive therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I specialize in working with trauma with adults, teens, and children. I am trained in trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy and have been basic trained with EMDRIA in EMDR. I also have experience working with depression, anxiety disorders, panic attacks, and grief as well as doing family therapy around these issues.
